How did I get to the Racing sports?

Steve Mizera

As far as I can remember, I have always had racingblood in my venes. As the son of a „Full-speed-father“ I attended together with my parents all the races in the former G.D.R. and Czechoslovakia as a very young boy, no matter if car,motor-bike, cross or street.Fascinated by noise, oil, mud and speed I was standig at fences in front of cars and mechanics looking at what was going on.

With self-made sandwiches tea from the thermo-can and our“Olympia-blue“ Wart- burg 353-car(Sports-tuned) we (my parents and me) were camping at many racing- courses. To me as a little child these were outstanding experiences.

Even then I adored the drivers as they combined technique, speed and man vs man.In my little head the dream was born to become a“racer“, without knowing any details about this job.

At GDR-times that was not possible to us.(above all financially) That´s why I started to ride my second hobby-horse down-hill skiing. At this time I laid the basis for my fitness.(there were very efficient training-plans) I won  little champioships and my first cups. Then during the years of change my personal coach died, the political system broke down ans so did our skiing-group. Just at this time it became possible to conquer the world, but money was needed. So, I worked diligently in several jobs and saved the money for my first motor-bike(10 000 DM).

Then friends took me to a racing-course, I remembered the dream of my childhood.

That was my new goal thereforeI had to buy a racing-bike in secret, because my parents would have never allowed their son to ride races. Today they have changed their minds. They have supported me on my way and have become my hottest fans.

It did not last long that it became obvious- Steve is talented on two wheels as well- The active way from 1997 in the Czech Super-Sport-Championship until the Long-Distance-Worldchampionship an in the Superbike IDM is well known and was actively accompanied by a lot of my fans.

Everything we have achieved now, we have achieved as a team and above all through the many nice people around us. At the beginning there was the dream.I would have never expected in 1997, that it becomes that realistic. There were tears, injuries, financial and human set-backs to overcome, but the good experience will last for ever.
